The ReCAAP ISC, together with S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), are jointly organising the Maritime Roundtable 2023 on 27 April 2023, Thursday during the Singapore Maritime Week.
This event brings together industry leaders, senior commanders, academia and subject matter experts for a closed-door dialogue on the challenges in tackling piracy and armed robbery against ships in regional waters. The theme of the Maritime Roundtable is “Criticality of Timely and Accurate Reporting – Assessment”.
Synopsis
It is axiomatic that immediate incident reporting, timely and accurate information-sharing and prompt responses are key factors for combatting piracy and armed robbery against ships. It is, therefore, a collective effort and shared responsibility of all stakeholders in ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of these reports. However, inaccurate reporting and delay in reporting and information sharing are increasingly prevalent, considering that far too many agencies are involved in maritime affairs in any country. This Roundtable aims to bring together key stakeholders to assess the perceived problem at hand, and to share best practices on how to encourage timely reporting and information sharing.
